I recently purchased a new Tapo C460 camera and am overall happy with its performance. However, I’ve noticed that motion detection seems to work reliably only when the app is open.

Here are my current settings:

• Wake-up Sensitivity: 10

• Motion Detection: On (sensitivity 10)

• Person Detection: On (sensitivity 10)

• Working Mode: High Performance

The camera is installed inside the porch, approximately 3 meters above the ground. The porch is enclosed with glass.

I’ve observed that the camera consistently detects motion and people inside the porch. However, it only detects motion and people outside the porch when the app is open.

Could you advise if this behavior is expected, or if there’s a way to improve detection of outdoor motion without keeping the app active?
