Model: Deco PX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3

Hi,

recently I started hearing an annoying noise coming from the deco PX50. I suspect it is coming from the PLC network, and the noise increases when there is more data traffic. Is there any way to reduce the noise?

Thanks

To reduce noise in a PLC network, implement best practices like proper grounding and shielded cables, strategically route wires away from electrical noise sources, use twisted pair cables to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI), and employ filters to eliminate noise on specific frequencies or signals. For more complex situations, consider analyzing noise patterns to identify problematic frequency bands or using software-based noise reduction techniques within the PLC system.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

Hi, thank you for your answer.

Close to the PX50 there are no other power sources, and only two Ethernet cables are connected. If I unplug them, the noise does not disappear.

Can you recommend me any filters?

When you say shielded cables, are you referring to power cable?

Thanks

Shielded Ethernet cable provides superior protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and noise but is more expensive, thicker, less flexible, and requires proper grounding, whereas unshielded Ethernet cable is cheaper, more flexible, easier to install, and sufficient for most non-noisy environments. Choose shielded cable for high-speed networks or electrically noisy environments like industrial settings, but for typical residential or office use with low EMI, unshielded cable is usually the appropriate and more cost-effective choice.

I understand the advantages of shielded Ethernet cables. Actually I use this type of cables. In any case, the noise did not appear suddenly. So the option that I would test is a filter in the power cable, but I don't know which one to select.

Thanks

Won't lie I'm not sure what the best filters would be so going to tag a member of the tp-link staff who might know.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

May I know how long you have had the Deco PX50?

Could you please leave me a message with the SN number of the Deco?

If the Deco is still under warranty, it is suggested to contact the local warranty office for a replacement:

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.

Sure, I send you the informacion. I bought them nearly 2 years ago, so they should be under warranty yet.

Thanks
