Firmware Version:

Ok so my work has just bought a new camera which we need to watch over wifi.

I'm trying to set it up at the moment and I'm pulling my hair out because I can't.

The problem is the building which we need to monitor is outside the range of our wifi, but it is within the range of someone else's wifi.

I've connected the camera to that wifi, and it has an ip address, but every time I try to use either Agent DVR or VLC Player to connect to it, they won't connect. I can't even ping the camera, it's timing out.

If I could have a total idiots guide on how to set it up it would be much appreciated.

I've managed to solve it myself by downloading bluestacks and having it emulate an android device

  @GBG_G

RTSP streaming via software like VLC Player requires opening a port on the router for the camera. More details can be found here: How to view Tapo camera on PC/NAS/NVR through RTSP/Onvif Protocol

If you need to watch the camera on a computer, then an Android emulator app is indeed a good idea.

  @Wayne-TP

Yeah it worked fine.

Now all that I need to do is install the software on another computer and get the camera installed in the room we need to monitor
