Hi,

I am using the Tapo sensor to trigger the Alarm in Tapo Hub. The custom  smart Actions automation trigger functionality works fine. However, I want it to pause sending the trigger signals after it has triggered X number of times for Y seconds. Or how the Hub can ignore the trigger from sensor after X times?

Can someone tell me how to achieve it? This will be very useful feature if we don't have already.

Thanks.

I'm afraid this is not supported.

Can you share your use case here? Why do you need this feature?

BLOT: If the motion sensor is deployed within a home, many times it's intentionally needed to be in the motion sensor's area of detection for a short period, but there is no way to configure it to turn it off after a certain number of triggers, which is a legit use case.

My Use case in Detail:

I have a use case to monitor my father's ( who is a patient and needs assistance while walking ) wake-up and walking movements during the night. I have set up two layers of sensors within my home to track his movement from bed to the washroom -

  1. Using Tapo motion sensor --> is placed at a certain distance from the bed that gets triggered every 4 seconds if my father starts to walk away from his bed.
  2. Using Tapo Contact Sensor --> gets triggered when the washroom door is opened.

Both sensors are connected to the Tapo Hub alarm. The two layers of motion detection alarms are there to wake up the family members to assist him. Note that the automation only activates from night until morning.

Although, as per the setup, it is working well, however, when we try to assist him, we have to be in the sensor's area of detection for up to 10 minutes, and we know that the motion sensor has done its job, but it continues to detect our motion and keep triggering the Hub alarm, which is very annoying.

We have to completely turn off the Tapo Hub, but it comes with an overhead to remember to turn it back On.

The best workaround could be editing that Alarm Trigger Automation to turn itself off after the first trigger (yes, you can setup an automation to disable itself in the same automation) -> add a short delay -> re-enable the automation. If that does not work for you, or I misunderstood your case, here is another option: Buy a smart button (like Tapo S200D or S200B) -> create an automation that turns of Alarm Trigger Automation when you manually press the button once -> make another automation to turn back on the Alarm Trigger Automation when you manually press the button twice
