Dear Tapo Team,

I would like to request a new feature that allows lighting automation to be based on the actual ambient brightness in a room rather than on sunrise and sunset times.

The idea is to use existing devices with light sensors (such as Tapo cameras) or optionally a dedicated Tapo brightness sensor to measure real-time illumination levels. This data could then be used in automations to control smart bulbs, plugs, or light strips — for example, turning on when the room becomes too dark and off when natural light is sufficient.

This feature would:

- Enable more precise and adaptive lighting control.

- Improve energy efficiency by avoiding unnecessary lighting during bright daylight.

- Make the “Smart Actions” system more flexible by integrating real environmental data.

Would you consider adding ambient light detection as a trigger for automations in future firmware or app updates?

Thank you for your consideration.

This would help my lighting automation. Sunset-related triggers are good, but don't account for the difference in light level between full sun and heavy cloud

This would very much help me with my hydroponics and seedling starting. We try to use natural sunlight as much as possible (LEDs that come even close to sunlight lux are crazy power consuming) so not having to go into the app to change my automation every month, and just being able to set automation based on light levels would be fantabulous.
