Model: Tapo S112
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I will soon be getting one of these, & while reviewing the wiring instructions I've managed to create doubts in my mind. My intention was to use the S112 to replace a Sonoff smart switch & get all devices within one app to streamline and improve smart actions.

I want my C720/C520 to turn on a floodlight at the other end of my garden when they see motion but only from sunset until later in evening, an action that is unsatisfactory through Alexa - my current arrangement - as I can't use sunset as a trigger so have to continually reset the times, and also is a little erratic & can take time to activate.

The S112 seemed a perfect choice, but having read the instructions I'm now wondering if it may not be the simple replacement I'd thought it was.

Simply, I'd intended not using a physical switch - no connections to S1 or S2 at all, just AC power and O1/O2, to make it a smart switch only, and now I'm unsure if this is possible.

Can you confirm if I can use the S112 as a smart only switch with no physical switch present, or not? It's no problem if I have to use a switch, just I'd rather know first. 🙂

Best regards.

It's ok to control the loads only with the Tapo, not to use a physical switch - leaving the S1/S2 no connections.
