Model: KE100 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.1.0

Hi everyone,

I found a reproducible and very frustrating bug with the KE100 when using a T310/T315 external temperature sensor.

If the T310/T315 does not send an update for around 15 minutes (which happens naturally when temperature is stable), the KE100 automatically switches back to its internal temperature sensor.

As soon as the T315 sends the next update (sometimes 20–30 min later), the KE100 switches back to the external sensor again.

This cycle repeats all day.

There are:

  • no connection issues

  • no offline sensors

  • no hub problems

  • already set to High-sensitivity mode on all T310/T315

For me this fallback is not a feature but a serious firmware bug, because it makes the external sensor basically useless. The KE100 should only fall back if the external sensor goes offline, not simply because it didn’t send an update for some minutes.

Right now this behavior makes my setup pointless. If there is no fix planned, I will unfortunately have to return my 5× KE100 + 4× T315 1x T310, because the external sensor mode becomes unreliable.

Is anyone else seeing this? And can TP-Link please confirm whether this is a known issue or if a firmware fix is planned?

All devices are on the latest firmware: KE100 (HW 1.0, FW 2.1.0), T315 sensors (HW 1.0, FW 1.8.0), and one T310 sensor (HW 1.0, FW 1.5.0).

Thanks!

Interesting i will need to check timings. Ive noticed for a while now that the temp reading on my T310 can vary from the trv its connected to. I use home assistant so have got around this by creating a yaml script that automates my heating to always use the external sensor. This definitely needs fixed!

  @Daz183

using home assistant too, created a dashboard where i can see every offset at once.
You can see the room "Büro" (office) is currently not in sync for example. This is just a random screenshot captured right now, there are times where every TRV is out of sync and they are using the internal sensor while all external sensors are working fine, in home assistant and in the kasa app..

@Wayne-TP Thank you. I will wait for any assistance from the support team.
I would like to emphasize that the TRV should ignore all internal sensor inputs under every circumstance when an external sensor is selected — even if the external sensor does not change for several hours or temporarily loses connection. I do not want any fallback to the internal sensors. If an external sensor is defined, only that sensor should be used at all times...
