Solution VX420-G2v/VX420-G2h May be Unable to Establish EasyMesh Network With EasyMesh R2/R3 Range Extenders
This article applies to:
VX420-G2v
VX420-G2h
EasyMesh R2/R3 Range Extenders
Note: How can you confirm if your Range Extender supports EasyMesh R2/R3? The most direct way is to check the Range Extender's firmware release notes, you will see a mention of "Added support for EasyMesh R2/R3".
Phenomenon:
We have received feedback from some users that after upgrading the Range Extender firmware, the ISP-customized modems VX420-G2v/VX420-G2h may be unable to create an EasyMesh network with the Range Extenders successfully.
Specifically, the following situations may occur:
After pressing the WPS button to establish an EasyMesh network, neither the Range Extender 2.4 GHz nor the RE 5 GHz LED turns on. Or, only the Range Extender one-band LED turns on, and the Range Extender broadcasts a single-band Wi-Fi network with an EXT suffix in the SSID.
Available Solution:
After testing by relevant departments, we have determined that this is caused by a missynchronization between the VX420-G2v/VX420-G2h and the Range Extender's EasyMesh technology.
As you know, some of our Range Extenders have recently received firmware updates to support EasyMesh R2/R3. This is undoubtedly a significant improvement for EasyMesh networks. However, this means the firmware-updated Range Extenders will temporarily be unable to create EasyMesh networks with VX420-G2v/VX420-G2h.
Here are the suggested steps to restore your network connection:
- Please temporarily disable EasyMesh on the VX420-G2v/VX420-G2h.
- It is recommended that you reset the Range Extender entirely before the Quick Setup.
- Then, perform the Quick Setup on the Range Extender.
Please keep an eye out for the next official firmware update for the VX420-G2v and VX420-G2h, as this unexpected behavior will be corrected.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
