Hi,

I received both the new Tapo H500 and C460 Kit yesterday.

The C460 works fine and connects to the Tapo app without the H500. I wanted to try connecting it to the H500 via my Wi-Fi router (Fritzbox).

 

I set up both devices on the same network, and they each show different IPv4 addresses:

  • H500: 192.168.178.139

  • C460: 192.168.178.175

 

I can ping the H500 without any issues.

However, when I open the Tapo app on my smartphone and try to add the existing C460 camera, the app says that the C460 is not on the same network

Interestingly, I can still use the Tapo app to connect directly to the C460 without any problems.

 

The following connection scenarios work:
Tapo App on smartphone ← Router → C460

Tapo App on smartphone ← Router → H500

 

However, the following scenario does not work:

Tapo App on smartphone ← Router → H500 ←❌ → C460

 

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? Thanks!


Note: if I do not get a solution within 7 days, I will have to return both devices, as they are unusable for me without reliable functionality.

Hm, It works when the H500 connects to the router via LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi. I spent two hours trying to fix this, and the effort was not worth it.

 

However, the message “C460 is not on the same network” is very confusing. I am sure it will confuse many other users as well when not using LAN cable.


This message should be changed to something more accurate, such as: "Wi-Fi signal is weak. Please use a LAN cable instead."
