Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20250616

The Deco BE65 Wi-Fi 7 router seems to be incompatible with the Redmi K80, even though the phone supports Wi-Fi 7. When the router is set to 5 GHz 160 MHz, the SSID never appears in the K80’s Wi-Fi list, while it works normally on the Redmi Note 11 Pro (Wi-Fi 6). I tested all available 5 GHz 160 MHz channels with no change on the K80, yet every channel works on the Note 11 Pro. The K80 only connects when the Deco BE65 is configured to 80 MHz on channels like 161 or 128, and the 2.4 GHz band works properly.

  @Alex_Mahone

Hi, may I know the available channels on the Deco App when the 5GHz bandwidth is set to 160MHz?

How about the available channels on the Deco App when the 5GHz bandwidth is set to 80MHz?

By the way, was Deco BE65 also purchased in Myanmar?

Google search implies Myanmar seems to prefer band 4(channel 148-165) in 5GHz Wi-Fi. And there aren't enough channels for 160MHz in band 4, so Deco BE65 often use band 1(channel 36-48)+ band 2(52-64) to achieve 160MHz.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Thank you for your reply. I’m waiting to hear from you again.
To answer your first question:

There are a total of 16 channels available for 5 GHz 160 MHz: 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128.

For 80 MHz, there are 24 channels in total: 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128 , 131, 136, 140, 144, 149, 153, 157, 161.

All devices (both Redmi and Deco) were purchased in Myanmar.

Thank you for your clear explanation. I understand that this issue is not caused only by the Deco; it also relates to the phone’s wireless specifications, and possibly country-specific regulations. Our main purpose is to explain this to customers from our wireless perspective, so they understand that the problem is not solely due to our device, but also involves the phone side and local regulatory limitations.

Please let me know the root cause and the recommended solution, so we can explain the issue to our customers in a clear and technical way.BTW, I’ve gained so much new technical knowledge from you.

Best regards.

  @Alex_Mahone Some phones has hardware and software limitations so i think your Redmi K80 will support same channels on 80 MHz like 36-48 and other channels but your phone does'nt support 160 MHz that's why your phone is'nt showing wifi in the phone wireless settings.

Please & Thank You !! ❤️

  @ARGamingPK1

I appreciate you, The Redmi K80 is officially announced to support Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, so it is confusing that the phone does not detect the 160 MHz . I have also tested a Redmi Note 11 Pro, which only supports Wi-Fi 6, and it can see the 160 MHz on all channel without issue.

From the customer’s perspective, this raises questions: why does a Wi-Fi 7 supported phone fail to detect the 160 MHz SSID while an older Wi-Fi 6 device can?

We can clearly explain from the Deco BE65 side. However, mobile phone sellers usually have limited technical knowledge—they only sell the phones and cannot fully explain this behavior to the customer.

Best regards.

  @Alex_Mahone

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

Here are some of my thoughts:

For your locally-purchased Deco BE65, Its 80MHz on 5GHz WiFi supports band 1(36-48)+band2(52-64)+band3(100-144)+band4(149-161);

its 160mhz on 5GHz WiFi supports band 1(36-48)+band2(52-64)+band3(100-128) which complies with the 5GHz frequency ranges listed here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

There are only two continuous 160MHz frequency ranges, channel 50(from channel 36-64) and channel 114(from channel 100-128).

On the Redmi Note 11 Pro (Wi-Fi 6), it supports the whole band 3+band 4 on 80MHz, it uses band 4 for 80MHz and band 3(100-128) for 160MHz. But the Redmi K80 seems to only support channels 116-144;149-161(part of the band 3+ band4), which don't have enough bandwidth for 160MHz. So I tend to believe that although Redmi K80 is advertised as WiFi 7, its wireless capacity varies in different regions. For example, the 6GHz band hasn't been officially allowed in Myanmar(https://www.wi-fi.org/regulations-enabling-6-ghz-wi-fi). Without the 6GHz compatibility, the Redmi K80 seems very similar to the WiFi 6 mobile phones.

As you said, there aren't clear phone’s wireless specifications(possibly country-specific regulations), my explanation might not be accurate. The affected users might still need to have a further comfirmation with the phone support.
