Solution Fixes: Smart Control Not Working on Kasa KE110 and Linked KE100
This Article Applies To
- KE110(EU) V1.0 - Firmware 1.1.0 Build 250225 Rel.192437
- The KE100 that is linked with the KE110
Description
When linking a KE100 to a KE110, you may find that the Smart Control settings on the KE100 do not work as intended. For instance, the target temperature may not adjust according to the schedule, and heating may continue based on the previous plan even after a new schedule is set to begin.
Workaround
R&D has developed new firmware that addresses this issue. Before the official release, community users are provided early access to the firmware. If you would like to have a try, follow the instructions below to apply the firmware.
How to Apply Beta Firmware
1. Find the Mac address of the KE110 and the connected KH100 hub: Open the Kasa app and navigate to the smart device's Device Settings page > Device Info.
2. Send a private message to @Wayne-TP with this format:
[KE110 Smart Control Issue] + Mac address of your KE110 and the KH100
Before the Upgrade
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Pre-release firmware!
(2) How to update firmware of Kasa smart devices
(3) Firmware downgrade is not supported. When a new official version is released, updating it will overwrite the beta version.

@Wayne-TP I observe a similar issue of a zig zag heating pattern with a linked T315. I also observe this zig zag pattern with actually no linked external temperature sensor. Overall it looks more like those thermostats are controlled with a bang-bang controller instead of a nice pid controller.
Are there beta firmares available for KE100 ( and T315) for testing?
If you have a product-related question, it’s best to create a separate post. This thread is dedicated to beta firmware access, which is distributed via private message. You’ll notice most comments here are from me, sharing firmware update notices. If other types of discussions are mixed in, I may not be able to spot them promptly.
Now, back to your question: it is normal to observe temperature fluctuations with the KE100. The product regulates temperature by adjusting the valve, which naturally introduces a response delay. For example, even when the valve is fully closed, the temperature may continue to rise briefly because residual hot water remains in the system, the heating can't just stop immediately. While our algorithm is designed to minimize the impact of this delay, other factors are also considered to ensure the product’s overall performance. For instance, although frequent valve adjustments could bring the temperature closer to your target, this would drain the battery faster and ultimately affect the device’s long-term reliability. Therefore, there are limits on how often the valve moves.
The above explanation should clarify the temperature fluctuations in KE100's control. If you have other questions, feel free to ask.
