Model: Tapo H500  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.9 Build 20251218 rel.62866

On my Tapo H500 Hub,  I have added Tapo D130 (doorbell camera) and Tapo C246D as connected devices and enabled AI for Person Detection and Facial Recognition.

I can now get new faces for facial recognition from TC70 but unfortunately no new faces from Tapo D130.
Firmware on Tapo D130 is 1.1.11 Build 250117 Rel.42040n (latest)

The Tapo H500 claims the Tapo D130 is supported here --> https://www.tp-link.com/us/tapo-h500/product-list/#cloud-cameras

 

Please help to investigate why Tapo D130 is not submitting new faces for facial recognition.

A new D130 firmware (v 1.1.12 Build 250806 Rel.40262n was suddenly pushed out just today.

I immediately installed and tested the new firmware and I can report that the Tapo D130 can now send new faces for recognition to Tapo H500.

Everything is working!

Please check whether the detection feature works properly on the D130, if not, that means no face info was submitted to the H500. 

 

Try to power cycle your Tapo H500, see if it helps.

 

By the way, do you have both Tapo C246D and TC70? Are they all new devices like the D130?

Please check whether the detection feature works properly on the D130, if not, that means no face info was submitted to the H500. 

 

<answer> Yes, I have enabled Motion, Person, Pet and Vehicle Detection on D130 and they are working fine for many months now for event recording and notifications.

 

Try to power cycle your Tapo H500, see if it helps.

 

<answer> Yup I did rebooted Tapo H500 so many times already, but didn't help.

 

By the way, do you have both Tapo C246D and TC70? Are they all new devices like the D130?

 

<answer> Yes, I have various existing Tapo cameras like TC70, C246D and C320WS, and all work flawlessly with Tapo H500 and all sends new faces for recognition to Tapo H500 successfully. It is only the D130 that doesn't work, despite the detection feature working fine. It just doesn't submit new faces for recognition to Tapo H500.

Really wanted the D130 to work as it is well positioned outside at the gate to see new faces of strangers for facial recogntion.
