Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0

Hi,

I have a bunch of P115 plugs. I am reconfiguring my network to have all IOT devices on a different VLAN. With these plugs the reconfiguration of the wifi is a bit of a pain, because in order to reconfigure, the plug needs to be reset. This means that it needs to be rediscovered in the Tapo app, and it looses all of it's energy history as well.

Is there any way to make this process smoother and retain the historic data?

Apply the same WiFi settings on the new network, then you don't need to reset them, the smart plugs should connect automatically.

Alternatively, you can soft reset the Tapo P115 -- press the power button for 5 seconds to reset WiFi settings while keeping other existing settings. However, just in case, i would recommend exporting all data from the smart plug first before the reset attempt.

At the moment, resetting the Tapo P115 is required to change Wi-Fi, and this does erase all local energy history. There’s no official way to retain the data after a reset. The only workaround is to save or export the stats before reconfiguring and re-add the plug to the same Tapo account. Cloud-level history retention would need to be added by TP-Link in a future update.
