Model: Tapo C225
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.2

I am a satisfied user of the new Tapo C225 V2 camera. I upgraded from the C200 model, and I am very impressed with the improved field of view and the physical privacy shutter feature.

I am writing to request a deeper integration of the Physical Privacy Mode into Apple Home (HomeKit/Matter). Currently, the privacy mode is only controllable through the Tapo app or via Siri Shortcuts. It does not appear as a separate "Switch" accessory within the Apple Home app.

For users like me, who rely on Apple Home's native Geofencing (Arrive/Leave home automations), it is crucial to be able to automate the physical rotation of the lens. Ideally, the Privacy Mode should be exposed to HomeKit/Matter as a simple On/Off Switch. This would allow us to:

  1. Automatically enable Privacy Mode (rotate lens) when the first person arrives home.

  2. Automatically disable Privacy Mode (activate camera) when the last person leaves home.

As the C225 V2 is a high-end, Matter-compatible device, having this feature natively in Apple Home would make it the perfect security solution for families who value physical privacy.

I hope you can consider implementing this in a future firmware update.

Thank you for your hard work and for creating such great products!

Best regards,
