High ping and lag when downloading GTA San Andreas mods – could router QoS help?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently using the TP-Link Deco M4 mesh setup at home and overall the connection is pretty stable. However, I’ve noticed a small issue when I’m downloading large files while gaming. Recently I started replaying Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on my PC and experimenting with different mods and texture packs. Some of these mod files are quite large, so I often download them while playing or while other people in the house are using the internet. The problem is that whenever a big download is happening, the network latency increases noticeably. Other devices in the house start buffering (YouTube, streaming, etc.), and sometimes my connection feels unstable.
I noticed the QoS feature in the Deco app, but I’m not sure what the best way is to configure it in this situation.
So I wanted to ask:
-
Would enabling QoS or device priority help keep the network stable while large downloads are happening?
-
Is there a way to limit bandwidth for one PC so it doesn’t affect the whole network?
-
For those using Deco systems, what settings have worked best for gaming + downloads at the same time?
Any suggestions or experiences would be really helpful. Thanks! 👍
