Hi everyone,

I’m currently using the TP-Link Deco M4 mesh setup at home and overall the connection is pretty stable. However, I’ve noticed a small issue when I’m downloading large files while gaming. Recently I started replaying Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on my PC and experimenting with different mods and texture packs. Some of these mod files are quite large, so I often download them while playing or while other people in the house are using the internet. The problem is that whenever a big download is happening, the network latency increases noticeably. Other devices in the house start buffering (YouTube, streaming, etc.), and sometimes my connection feels unstable.

I noticed the QoS feature in the Deco app, but I’m not sure what the best way is to configure it in this situation.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Would enabling QoS or device priority help keep the network stable while large downloads are happening?

  • Is there a way to limit bandwidth for one PC so it doesn’t affect the whole network?

  • For those using Deco systems, what settings have worked best for gaming + downloads at the same time?

Any suggestions or experiences would be really helpful. Thanks! 👍

Hi, may I know where you downgrade the current "1.6.0 Build 20231010 Rel. 34567"? Is it a beta firmware?

If you check the hardware version on the product label, is it Deco M4(EU) 3.0?

-If it, Deco M4(EU) 3.0 doesn't support limiting bandwidth for one PC.

You can refer to this link to find the model that supports "Speed Limit": How to configure Speed Limit on your Deco

Its current QOS settings allow setting the bandwidth limit for the whole Mesh and prioritizing certain devices. So if you wish to lower the priority of the gaming PC, you might need to prioritize most of the frequently used devices.

On some models, their QoS settings are more powerful than those on the Deco M4. Take Deco X50, one of the HomeShield models for example:

Set Scene Priority under QOS

Best regards.
