Tapo D235 Doorbell Won't Wake up unless the App is open/live
My neighbour has just bought a D235 Doorbell direct from Tapo online. She bought this because she liked mine and the same model.
However she has a Samsung Galaxy A26 phone, where I have an IPhone.
I've set it up for her, but her Samsung phone will not wake up when the doorbell is pushed or it detects something, unless she has the Tapo App open. I'm fairly sure both those operations this should wake the phone up, like it does on my Iphone. But it doesn't. I've seen some issues this year for the D210/T21, can you help me/ her please.

This article should help, take a look. What should I do if Tapo/Kasa notifications are delayed or not working?

Please be more specific, do you mean the Samsung phone cannot receive Tapo notifications or the doorbell can't detect and record activities (unless doorbell liveview page is opened)?

Hi Wayne
Thanks for the reply.
This is a Tapo d235 that my neighbour has asked me to fit for her, as she liked my own one. But my d235 is linked to an Iphone
Her Samsung A26 Phone with Android OS will only send notifications and pick up a detection and door bell push only when the Tapo app is open/in live view. Not when the phone is in a Home state ie the screen is blank. However the phone screen does show a small Tapo (house) icon when the phone is in a home state/ blank screen.
I've tried rebooting to doorbell, plus also reseting to factory and configuring again. But no change.
These may help
Firmware V1.2.2 BUILD 260210 REL 27165
ISP is EE
Tapo app version 3.17.803
If you could help please.

Thanks for this. I have tried previously with some of the suggestion in Scenario 1, but I will revisit later today and get back to you.
Thanks also for the heads up re the MAC

I've completed these changes today
Tapo app: D235 Settings > Doorbell > Doorbell Video Call > Select the ring call function.
But left it at Push notifications, rather than ring call. The reason was so she could get sent a notification ??- Changed the notification pop up style from brief to detailed
- Changed the notification pop up style from icon to cards
- I have added the Tapo app to the never sleeping app list
- The Show brief pop even while screen is off was already ON
