Can anyone help with setup suggestions? Overwhelmed.
Hi, I've a kasa cam from 2018, still works a treat. It sits on an upstairs window looking out to the front of the house. I think it might be time to upgrade.
Unfortunately in the last couple of months we've had people trying car doors, trying the house doors, walking onto the property in ski masks. It's scary reviewing the footage each morning and seeing whats gone on. As they're all masked up they mostly ignore the camera. That leads me to wonder about an upgrade.
I like the camera indoors - it is easy to wire up and also to clean. Plus the front of the house has a very rough, uneven stone texture which is hard to attach anything of substance to. I've seen systems where the camera can switch a lamp or light on, or maybe even trigger an alarm at certain hours (these encroachments are typically 2 to 3AM). As I'm in a busy suburban area on a large street i think this might work well.
My ideal set up is something like this: camera that records 24/7 (doesn't need to store it for more than 24 hours) but also highlights triggers into it's zone, then reacts to them at night time with a lamp or noise. If this isn't possible, an additional indoor camera is fine, though preferably without any wires (got a cat that loves to chew!). The cameras need to be able to switch IR off as at night they cause glare on the window glass. Also no active subscription services please. Any help would be brilliant, the tech has really moved on since I last researched this. Im in the UK, if it makes any difference. Thank you, Mark
