Model: Tapo C410 KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.3

Hi, I have the kit with a C410 camera and solar panel. The camera is working well for now and it's always charging at 100% because the weather is perfect and the sunlight powers the panel. Batteries deteriorate if left charging all the time, so i want to be able to decide at what percentage to start charging. I want the battery to reach 15%, and the solar panel will activate to bring it to 100% and then deactivate itself. This way the battery life will increase since there's no way to replace it.

The camera is positioned in a place where it is not possible to disconnect the solar panel cable when I need it so as not to leave it charging 24 hours a day. What could be a valid solution?

The solar panel is plug-and-play, the charging behavior isn't configurable. But you don't have to worry about the battery, this charging behavior actually has very little impact on the camera’s battery lifespan.

Generally, the main factors that damage lithium‑ion batteries are frequent full charge/discharge cycles and continuous high‑power charging when the battery is already near full. Neither of these occurs during normal use of Tapo battery cameras.

This type of camera is designed to minimize power consumption. It stays in sleep mode most of the time to save power, and only wakes up to detect and record when motion is detected. High power consumption only occurs in special cases: such as during extended live viewing, or if the camera is installed in a location that faces an area with excessive frequent activity.

In addition, the camera has a battery protection mechanism. When the battery level is high, charging requires a higher voltage input to start. So even on sunny days, if sunlight intensity is not strong enough, the camera will not keep charging at high battery levels. Once the battery reaches 100%, charging stops automatically — even if a charging current is still detected.

Ok I appreciate your response since security is important. I wanted to ask if there are plans to add a notification alert when the cameras go offline. Many of us have voted and asked for time, but we haven't received a definitive answer yet. The same goes for the release of an Android TV app. Will it be possible?
