I've had several P110 energy monitoring smart sockets where the relay has locked up. Usually a couple of taps frees them up. I've taken one apart, and they don't come apart easily and required tape/glue to secure the case again. I found a cover shell to 3D print. I looked at the possibility us using a mosfet but it is too large. I've modified one to have a socketed, user replaceable relay.

I have much older KASA switches that do not exhibit this problem.

Are any of the newer smart sockets better and what are the version numbers and SKU?

Relay sticking in a plug is often the result of using it with an incompatible load type. Operating an unsuitable load over time can speed up wear and tear on the hardware. You can learn more from here: What types of loads can the Tapo/Kasa plug support?

All of our products are rigorously tested and should work reliably when used according to the instructions. However, if you do encounter an issue, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team. Contact Technical Support

Additionally, I should clarify that disassembling or modifying the device is not recommended. Doing so will void the product warranty and could also pose potential safety risks.
