New product suggestion: Audio Alarm Sensor
On another thread, it was suggested that TAPO should release a SMART smoke (and carbon monoxide) detector.
I imagine that such a device would be problematic for TAPO to produce, not least because these devices need to conform to multiple fire safety certifications in different countries around the World.
I'd also question the value of such a safety device with it being (at the very least) reliant on a local wi-fi connection, and potentially also access to the TAPO cloud via an active internet connection.
And then, of course, there is the risk of a fire occurring whilst such a TAPO device is out of action during one of the very regular firmware updates.
HOWEVER, there is another option which would meet the same requirement, without all these obstacles:
What would be useful is a TAPO audio alarm sensor: a device which would detect the loud beeping of a properly certificated smoke (or carbon monoxide) detector made by any third-party company which specializes in safety devices.
Potentially, thus new TAPO device might need to be "trained" to recognize an alarm sound, or perhaps it could just send an alert for any unusually loud noise. As well as a smoke alarm, it could also be used to detect the sound of a house security alarm, and potentially the sound of breaking glass too.
Obviously the device would need to have a microphone to detect these sounds, and it would be useful to be able to listen to the sounds heard by the device using the mobile app.
If a loud-speaker was included, this new device could also be used as an intercom - and if it was triggered by loud noises, potentially could be activated by shouting for help.
