Hi,

I am able to enable and disable privacy mode via the Tapo app by creating these shortcuts inside the app. These shortcuts are also accessible via iOS Shortcuts, which is what I am using to set up specific autmations. The other shortcut available is to Play Sound.

Nevertheless. I want to be able to enable notifications on one or all cameras via a shortcut. The reason for this is, I don't want notifications when I'm at home. So I'd like to set up an Apple Home automation to activate notifications on the Tapo App for the cameras when I leave my home.

I do undertstand that this feature is availble on the Apple Home app - but I don't want to rely purely on the Apple Home app for this. I'd like the Tapo app's notifications to be available to me when I leave my home.

Please consider adding the option to enable notifications for cameras via shortcuts. Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to TP-Link community and thank you very much for your feedback. At the moment, enabling or disabling camera notifications via Smart Actions or Shortcuts is not supported in the Tapo app. We understand how useful it would be to control notification behavior automatically—such as enabling notifications when leaving home and disabling them while at home.

We’ve recorded your request and will forward it to the relevant product team for consideration as a future enhancement. Your feedback is very valuable in helping us improve automation and notification flexibility.

Currently, I think the Home mode and Away mode on the Tapo app can help the usage scenario you described. With the Home mode and Away mode configured, you can switch the mode on the Tapo app to turn on/off notifications for specified cameras when you are at home or not.
How to edit Home and Away Mode for the Tapo camera?

Best Regards.

thanks for the response.

I had a look at the Home Mode and Away Mode.

These seem to be useful functions. But the implementation is shoddy at best.

Firstly, there's only a prompt confirmation that either mode has been activated. There's no static watermark or status icon of sorts to let you know at a glance that your cameras are set to Home or Away Mode.

Secondly, there's no way to now remove a camera completely from a specific mode.

So now not only do I not know what's going on, I can't undo it because I simply don't know what's going on and the option to undo it doesn't exist. I would expect from a device being used for security implementation, a little bit of professional specificity to be provided. At least next time warn somebody that activating one of these modes is undoable.

Hi,

Thank you for your kind reply! If you want to delete a camera from the away mode or Home mode. Please refer to the following steps:

Step1. Go to Tapo app > Cameras page.  To edit the Home/Away mode settings, click the three-dot button.

Step 2.To remove a device, tap the Edit icon in the upper‑right corner, select the minus icon next to the device, and then tap Done.

Best Regards.
