Model: Tapo S112
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0

I regularly get the warning "Obstacle Detected" from S112 in garage door mode when there is no obstacle.

The automatic calibration does not work - it opens the door then does not close and continues to show an opening and closing door but doing nothing.

The manual calibration appears to work ok.

The error typically occurs when RE-starting opening the door after stopping with the door slightly open.

The error can be cleared by pressing a local button, but not by action on the Tapo app - this is very annoying when you are not present.

I suspect "over power" is created by re-starting the mechanism at high loading (door nearly closed). This would be a result of programming not allowing enough power use tolerance and/or shutting down too quickly before the over power returned to normal power once the motor was in motion.

It is also a problem not being able to cancel the error and try to re-start, maybe after an appropriate warning.

  @wavyP

There is a beta firmware that might help with this issue. If you would like to try it, send me a private message with the Mac address of your Tapo S112.

Before the Upgrade

(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Pre-release firmware!
(2) How to update the firmware of the Tapo devices on the Tapo App
(3) Firmware downgrade is not supported. When a new official version is released, updating it will overwrite the beta version.

  @Wayne-TP I think I'm having the exact same issue as OP.  I'll try to send you a DM with the MAC addresses of the two units experiencing the issue.  Let us know if there are any other updates though? Thanks!

  @Wayne-TP Since installing the Beta I've not seen the problem.
