Hi TP-Link / Tapo Support Team, @David-TP

I need clarification on setting up a cross-home automation using Tapo devices.

Current Setup (Home 1):

  • 1 × Tapo H200 Smart Hub

  • Door Sensor (Tapo)

  • Smart Switch (Tapo)

  • Tapo Camera

Planned Setup (Home 2):

  • Planning to buy 1 × Tapo Hub (H100 or H200)

  • Door Sensor / Smart Switch / Camera (similar to Home 1)

My Requirement:

  • When motion is detected in Home 1 (camera or sensor),
→ Home 2 should trigger an action (alarm sound / chime / switch ON)

  • Similarly, when an event happens in Home 2,
→ Home 1 should trigger alarm or action

Questions:

  1. Is it possible to link two homes (different WiFi networks) under the same Tapo account for automation?

  2. Can a device in Home 1 trigger actions on a hub/device in Home 2?

  3. If I use H200 in both homes, will cross-home automation work?

  4. If not supported natively, is there any official workaround within Tapo ecosystem?

Expectation:

  • Real-time alert/action (not just mobile notification)

  • Example: Camera motion in Home 1 → Alarm/chime in Home 2

Please confirm whether this setup is supported, and if not, suggest the best recommended solution (within or outside Tapo ecosystem).

Smart devices installed in different locations or networks can all be added and managed under the same TP-Link account. And automation is a cloud-based feature, so it is possible to create automation between smart devices under different networks.

No. To store camera videos to a Tapo hub, the camera and the hub should be connected to the same network.
