When Night Boost is active (not just on), the Tapo devices turns on two red lights. How to disable the lights? Status Led setting is already off.

Hi,
The lights you are referring to are the infrared (IR) LEDs, not the status LED.

The IR LEDs automatically turn on when Night Mode / Night Boost is active, and they cannot be manually disabled while night mode is in use. These LEDs provide additional illumination so the camera sensor can capture clearer images in low-light conditions. Without them, the image may appear very dark or completely black at night. When the camera works in the Day mode, the IR LED will turn off automatically.

@Hilbert-TP Thanks for your comprehensive reply. Can I make a feature request for a setting to turn the lights off, or would that completely defeat the functionality of Night Boost? I can accept that Night Boost will be lower quality.

Hi,

You’re welcome to post or vote for this feature in the Feature Request section of the community. Adding your feedback there can help increase visibility and let the product team see that more users are interested in this option: Request: Option to Disable IR Light in Night Mode

Regarding your question: if the lights (IR LED) are turned off, it would significantly prevent Night Boost from working properly. The lights are essential for providing enough illumination for the camera in low-light conditions.
