Model: Tapo C260
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.12 (build 260128)

I know the C260 is an indoor camera but I have mine pointing outside the window. I don't think that makes any difference but I've noticed that when I'm looking at the thumbnail list of motion alerts, the thumbnails all look identical because when there's movement and the video starts recording, that seems to be when the thumbnail is taken, so because any motion usually starts at the edge of the screen (in my case), there's very little difference between the thumbnails - certainly not enough difference to be obvious.

My previous camera (Eufy) captured a still frame a few seconds into the recording and it was really helpful.

I'd like to suggest that Tapo consider changing it so that the thumbnail used is taken from a few seconds in or perhaps halfway through the recording to show a more true representation of the event.

Thanks.

Hi,

We understand your point. Currently, the thumbnail is captured at the exact moment motion is detected. This approach is designed to meet the needs of most users, who want to see what triggered the alarm right at the start of the event.  We will formally document your feedback and forward it to our product development team for their review and consideration in future planning.
We appreciate you taking the time to help us improve our products. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Best Regards,
