Tapo Cameras support Sound Detection features such as Baby Crying Detection, Glass Break Detection, Dog Bark Detection, and Cat Meow Detection. Note that supported detection types vary by model. The specific sounds you mentioned are not on the supported list, so they may not be detected.

To enable Sound Detection, open the Tapo App, tap the camera device card to enter the Live View page, tap the icon in the top right to open Device Settings, then go to the Detection page to find Sound Detection. For detailed steps, refer to: How to enable Sound Detection on Tapo indoor cameras

Why do you not allow all sounds to be detected? I get the impression that this is a deliberate restriction on your part. You could simply provide an option to enable or disable all sounds.

 

This leads me to wonder about how your video detection actually works. Do I receive a notification for everything that moves in the video feed?

For example:

Fire

Moving shadows

Smoke

Lights turning on

Leaves on my plants moving due to a draft

Etc.

Regarding the sound detection feature, we understand your desire for more comprehensive control. Currently, the feature is designed to identify specific events with clear significance to home security (such as glass breaking, a baby crying, or a smoke alarm sounding), rather than capturing all ambient sounds. This approach aims to strike a balance between providing effective alerts and ensuring a good user experience, avoiding constant notifications from ordinary environmental noises. Your suggestion to “enable detection for all sounds” is valuable, and we will document it and submit it to our product team for future evaluation and planning.

As for video motion detection, our cameras offer various detection types to meet different needs:
Motion Detection: Detects movement by analyzing pixel changes in the video feed.

AI Smart Detection (if supported by the device): Can further identify specific targets such as person, vehicles, and pets (cats/dogs). It works by combining multiple dimensions of information—including an object’s motion trajectory, shape characteristics, and changes in the scene—and utilizes algorithmic models for intelligent analysis and filtering.

Ça serait super d'activer tout les évènements pour le son en nous laissant le choix.

Si cette option est faite, je prend votre abonnement cloud direct.

 

Là j'ai trouvé une application pour pouvoir le faire. Par exemple sur cette application, on peut choisir le niveau sonore pour enclencher une alerte.

 

Mais elle n'est pas aussi bien que la vôtre.

 

J'ai une dernière petite question, lors de l'activation de la caméra si elle se déconnecte (par exemple le wifi se coupe), est-ce que je reçois une notification?

Currently, our smart devices do not support sending notifications when they are offline or when power is lost.
