ER605 – USB modem detection requires router reboot

Hello,

On an ER605 running in standalone mode, the USB modem is only detected during router boot.

Reproducible scenario:

• Device: Google Pixel 8

• USB tethering enabled after connecting the cable

• USB Modem enabled on the ER605

Result:

• The USB modem is not detected until the router is rebooted.

After rebooting the ER605 with USB tethering already active:

• Modem is detected

• IP address is assigned

• Connection works as expected

This suggests USB WAN detection occurs only at boot.

Question:
Is this behavior expected or a known limitation, and is dynamic USB WAN detection possible via firmware?
