According to documentation, to send notifications to my gmail account I need to connect to the gmail server through an SMTP connection to smtp.gmail.com:465

It seems google is decommissioning the less secure protocol in favor of oAuth.

The notification no longer works. It now returns invalid username or password.

According to Google post: Apps that use only your username or password will create errors if they try to access your Google Account. These errors can appear as:

  • “Invalid username”
  • “Invalid password”
  • “Unable to log in”

How can I configure my camera to continue to send email notification?

Hi All,

Announcement:

Gmail Accounts No Longer support Email Notification Feature on NC cameras

Our NC cameras have an email notification feature that allows users to input their email credentials and SMTP server information. This feature was designed to automatically send email alerts to specified recipients when detection events occur.

However, we regret to inform you that starting Autumn this year(2024), Gmail has discontinued support for traditional SMTP authentication and now requires OAuth 2.0 for email access. As a result, users with Gmail accounts will no longer be able to utilize the email notification feature.

Alternatives Solutions

1. Switch Email Providers: We suggest using other email services that still support traditional SMTP for email notification.
2. To set up a FTP to receive notification: Configure your camera to send notifications to a specified FTP sever in the same LAN as the camera.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Best Regards
