Model: Tapo H200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.1

I have a Tapo H200 hub along with 2 Tapo C425 cameras and 2 Tapo C500 cameras. Previously, my cameras were operating normally on my home WiFi. Yesterday, I connected the H200 hub to my network and attempted to integrate my cameras through its homebase.

I tried two different methods:

1. New Device Setup: I removed one of the Tapo C425 cameras from my setup and then selected the "set up a new device" option on the H200 hub. However, the hub did not list the Tapo C425 as an available device.

2. Connect Existing Devices: I re-added the Tapo C425 camera to the Tapo app so that it was again connected to the home WiFi (i.e., outside the H200 hub configuration). Then, within the H200 hub interface, I used the "connect existing devices" feature. The devices connected succesfully, I enabled both hub storage (using the hub’s MicroSD) and the WiFi backup option on all four cameras. While the hub storage function operates correctly, it appears that enabling WiFi backup did not switch the cameras to the hub’s dedicated network—they remain connected to the home WiFi.

My Questions: - Did I make any mistakes in my setup process? - How can I force the cameras to use the hub’s own network for WiFi backup instead of remaining on the home WiFi network? I thought that could help to minimize any impact in my home wifi.

Tapo H200 hub is hardware V1 and Firmware 1.5.1

Tapo C500 cameras are Hardware version 2.0 and Firmware version 1.1.2

Tapo C425  cameras are Hardware version 1.2 and Firmware version 1.2.25

The hub only offers a WiFi backup option for the camera in case of network interruptions. it won't change the network type of the Tapo C425 and C500, they still need to connect to the router wifi first before enabling the hub storage and wifi backup feature.

Camera will switch to the hub automatically when router wifi signal is weak, this can not be adjusted manually.

  @Wayne-TP

Thanks! I’m curious—what exactly is the Low-Power wireless feature advertised on this page?
https://www.tp-link.com/nordic/home-networking/smart-hub/tapo-h200/

I also noticed the compatibility list here:
https://www.tp-link.com/nordic/tapo-h200/product-list/

Does this mean my cameras aren’t fully compatible with the Low-Power wireless functionality?

I also have an additional question. I’ve installed microSD cards in all my cameras. To minimize network traffic on my home Wi-Fi, wouldn’t it be better not to use the hub’s microSD storage—since it's not using the Low-Power wireless for that function?

That's one of the advantages of TP-Link Sub-GHz technology. You may check this article to learn more. TP-Link Sub-GHz Technology Brings the New Tapo Lineup of Smart Hub, Sensors,Switches and More.

This feature applies to the Tapo SubGHz devices only. When the WiFi cameras are set to store videos to the hub, the data is transmitted through 2.4GHz WiFi.
