Archer C50 wired internet speed too slow - potential fix

With my desktop PC (Win 7), I have a 15 Mbps download connection speed via direct wired Arris 6141 modem, that is without the Archer C50 router connected. However, connecting the router would reduce this speed to 2 Mbps.
After reading many threads, I discovered the fix for my system was as follows:
Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> Intel(R) 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection -> Advanced Tab -> Link Speed & Duplex -> CHANGED 100 Mbps Full Duplex TO Auto Negotiation
Now, wired speed with router is 15 Mbps.
