Model : Archer C7

Hardware Version : Archer C7 v2 00000000

Firmware Version : 3.15.2 Build 170525 Rel.37571n

ISP :

Current setup is
Modem: Arris Surfboard 6141
Router: Archer C7, DHCP on / NAT on

This router connects to three access points (LAN port to LAN port) across my house via cat 5e cabling.
* AP #1: Archer C7, DHCP off / NAT off. I am getting ~200mb down / ~10mb up when I plug in directly to LAN port * AP #2: Archer C7, DHCP off / NAT off. I am getting ~200mb down / ~10mb up when I plug in directly
* AP #3: Archer C7, DHCP off / NAT off. I am getting ~40-50mb down / ~6-8mb up when I plug in directly [Not sure why this one is so much slower]

The main issue is terrible wifi performance.
All three APs have the same SSID name but have wifi set to different channels. However for all three I am getting terrible wifi performance. If I can connect at all, the connection is slow (~10-20mb down). Often my macbook or iphone will fail to connect to the internet at all -- "No IP Address" or "No Internet Connection" errors -- over wifi.
When connected on wifi to the router, I get ~200mb down....the wifi there works fine.

Any idea what is causing this issue?
Any and all help appreciated!

Depending on the hardware versions there is a beta firmware for version 2 here

Are you bridging a Port on the Modem ? my Actiontec allows me to bridge Port 1 , so I can have the C7 do DHCP, nat etc. If it's not Bridged you may have a double nat issue?

I updated the post with my hardware version.

I don't believe the Surfboard6141 acts as a router (or does NAT). Also it's strange that this connectivity/throughput is limited to wireless connections.

So you have 4 C7's ? You aren't using the Wan Port on the 3 APs are you? .......shouldn't be... just the 1st C7 off the Cable Modem ,

http://www.tp-link.com/ca/faq-608.html

Also I believe they should ALL be on the same SSID and Channel and password , so you can wander from room to room and have it seamlessly reconnect if needed to a stronger signal.

Never had that modem but it appears to be a dumbed down Modem that Cable providers don't want anyone playing with as there appears to be virtually nothing to configure looking at the manual....I am surprised there is only 1 Eth.Port though.

V2 C7 has a beta firmware out , you could try it..... I am using it and find it better than 16 series Firmwares' if you have one of the effected laptops mentioned in the thread below , with a Killer NIC/WIFI it maybe causing the drop out issue...

Yes, I have 4 C7s.

They all have the same SSID / password. I set the channel to be different to avoid interference. I'm not sure this matters anyway...the default setting is to auto-select?

Perhaps I will try the beta firmware since my issues will not go away but I don't use a Dell.
