I am new at this forum e.g. have never bought TP Link before. How does this work when you experiencing problems which you post at this forum? Do you get a reply from a TP Link specialist or do you have to contact them otherwise?

You get replies, you occasionally contact through email ... and very very seldomly, you actually get a useful resolution. Am I disappointed? Yes.

Activate "Lower PLC-to-VDSL Interference Mode", do a power reset on all adapters and check connection again,,,

See, that is exactly the kind of pointless and useless advice you keep getting here. Activating that feature cuts performance in half, for it disables MIMO. It will not resolve the five-units problem.

See, Peter...oh sorry no, I see, you have no idea of how powerline works, right? Otherwise, i cannot explain myself why you are posting such words in my direction :-/

Me (and others too) tested more than 5 devices at once and it works, there ist no generic "five-units" problem! It depends on quality of power lines, just like link-speed etc.

There ist more likely a "inadequate quality of power line" at jdpayne1969, or there is a hardware defect.

My advice is for testing purposes, just to see if it will connect, link-speed is secondary at this point. And I KNOW that it cuts speed by deactivating MIMO, but that's the point!

The reason is, the 9020P series chip is very vulnerable to poor quality power lines. See other thread i posted too...
I have been testing for a long time and have also measured the lines: a stable connection with high-speed is only possible
on high-quality power lines and under good conditions (for example, little external influences, etc.).

So if you determine link-drops or enormous speed-cuts, you have to deactivate MIMO in order to establish a good and stable powerline connection.

I had many (similar) issues with link-quality, such as speed-cuts up to <10mbits and link-drops, so i deactivated MIMO and now i do not have connection problems any more,
on average speed @500-600mbits(5 rooms)!

@jdpayne1969
Tip: LED lights is a big enemy of stable connections, so turn off all LED lamps before you start testing...

Thanks for the information. I really think the power lines in this older house are the problem. I'll try some of the tips.

So just let me get this straight. I buy 2 x TP-Link TL-WPA9610 KIT and 1 x TP-Link TL-PA9020P KIT for € 415. I unpack and connect the first adapter to my router. And every time i connect the 5th adapter my LEDs go to red and my network crumbels. By the way, my house was built from scratch in 2008 and i've used Devole for more than 15 years so i know a little about powerline adapters.

I appreciate any advice, but really, LED lights is a big enemy of stable connections. If true, don't turn them on in the first place, and secondly, have a good user manual explaining this.

Deactivating MIMO, really? I've read the other posts and learned this is about "Lower PLC-to-VDSL Interference Mode" Well in my tpPLC sceen under advanced there is only QoS to select. Nothing about interference mode. By the way, with a 4K resolution laptop it is hardly to read anyway. So what a shitty program. And afcourse i've download the iphone app, and again, no menu for lowering the interference mode. Oh by the way, in case you have a magnetron, oven, dishwasher, washing machine don't by these devices because they don't work as promised.

And so four devices should work great. But not for long, because after a while one of them is turning red and crumbles the network (really i don't no why, it just happens). So now i am the owner of 4 working TP-link powerline adapters (and two adapters resting in peace) and the first thing i do when i wake up is check if there are any red lights. If so, i just pull them out of the socket and reinsert them. Just to be sure i'll do the same check before going to sleep. Wow, state of the art technology.

So am i dissapointed in TP-link, yes! Would i recommend it, no! I'll take my loss and won't even bother anymore, it is simply not worth the agony.

I know for a fact, from lots of experience in even the oldest of houses (100 years and up), that MIMO is never an issue, other than for DSL interference if the phone wire runs in the same tubes as power lines do.

The AV2000 chipset or the products made with it being substandard is the real issue. Use prime brand AV1200 stuff, and live happily everafter. AVM, devolo, end of list.

Since you have owned the 5th and 6th unit, it's better to send email to tp-link support to get more help.
If it's not the issue of your home environment, they should help you figure it out.
If I were you, I won't let them rest since I bought them with my needs.
Besides, I always recieve better service from tp-link support no matter when I send email to them.
Good luck..

When mention that plugging in the 5th unit triggers a red light. Have you tried unplugging one of the other 4 units to see if that fixes it? In short, is the problem the location of the 5th unit, the unit itself or the number of units? Apologies if this has already been suggested and tried.

I have 4 units and they are mostly reliable. I have had 2 "outages" in the past 6 months that required a reset and reconfiguration. The last time, it seemed like one of the units was the cause. I could not get anything to re-pair. As soon as I power cycled the problem unit, everything twas fine. I really like the speeds that are being reported via the tpPLC utility. I have never tried adding additional units (tp-link or other brand).
