Help with crashing TL-WR841N

ISP : xfinity 25mbps
I'm trying to cast from an acer chromebook 15 running on 802.11 AC using a 1st gen Chromecast (H2G2-42). Chrome is latest update ( 67.0.3396.87 ). I've downloaded the latest firmware made available by TP-Link ( TL-WR841N(US)_V9_150401 ).
Problem:The router seems to get bogged down and shuts down the chromecast while the chromebook feed continues. I've also noticed I can cast without issue when I use a different computer with an ethernet connection.
Is this a limitation of the router, or are there settings I can change to make it work.
