I am replacing an old router with a C50 AC1200 dual band router. To reduce user interruption, I want to configure the C50 ahead of time and just do a swap-in.
I configure a Window PC with static IP 192.168.0.3 and connect it to C50's Ethernet LAN port. C50 is not connected to modem. IPconfig shows LAN connected with IP 192.168.0.3.But I cannot ping 192.168.0.1 which is the IP to invoke the admin GUI. Is it possible to do the set up like that ? or I have to wait until I am connected to the modem and do the configuration while all users are waiting.
This is not a new router. I am sure that no one has changed the 192.168.0.1 admin IP and my PC's IP 192.168.0.3 is outside the DHCP range. I hope I don't have to do a factory reset because do not want to lose what is configured in the C50.

In this case, just set up the wired PC to be DHCP mode, and get IP from C50, to check what is the gateway IP, or you may use tplinkwifi.net to login.
Besides, you may try to use the APP "Fing", which is a useful tool to scan network device IP and open port.

I tried already with PC in DHCP mode it cannot get an IP from the router . The C50 was a router used in a second network, so I am very sure that it has DHCP enabled. Anyway, I was told that they have saved the configuration on the C50. So I did a factory reset and did the same (PC 102.168.0.3 static IP wire connected to the router 192.168.0.1 admin Ip). It works. Thanks for the help.
