Archer A7 Speed is incredibly slow
Hi,
Model : Archer ar AC1750
Hardware Version : Archer A7 5.0
Firmware Version : 1.0.7 Build 20181210 rel.54182(553)
ISP : Spectrum
When I initially hook the ethernet cable to router. I get about 460 down and 23up average. I have a 400mb with spectrum.
My wifi is is about 200m.
I changed ports on router and every time I take the initial speed test it is 400+ down and 20+ up. Afer a couple minutes I do it again and it drops to 30+ down and 20+up. I have checked every seeting I could and can not find anythign that would effect this. Have unplugged, rebooted even reset back to factory.
Any help on this issue?

@Madkicker If you were to disconnect the Ethernet cable from the WAN port of the TP-Link and connect your computer using that same cable. Does the speed eventually slow down as well aftering leaving it for the same time it would generally take the router to slow down?

Are u meaning connecting to pc directly to the cable modem? If so yes I have done this and i get what I am supposed to with no issue. Sorry not sure what you are meaning..
But I have tried all sorts of different ways of connecting. Initial connect works great. But after a couple minutes it drops off. I have read some older post about killer cards buging the tp router. But they say it has supposedly been fixed.
I spoke with support via chat yesterday. Was supposed to upgrade my issue. but have yet to hear from anyone. Was told it would been with in one business day.

@Madkicker If you have not done so already, upload the latest firmware as that seemed to have solved speed issues with other users.
You can get that here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/download/Archer-A7.html#Firmware
If you still have not been followed up with yet please send an email to: ussupportteam@tp-link.com

I, too, am experiencing similar frustration, and I'm on Spectrum as well. I recently upgraded to their Gigabit internet, and when I connect my computer directly to the modem with no router, I get Gigabit speeds. However when I connect the router, I get throttled back to between 200-400Mbps regardless of whether or not I'm hardwired or on wifi. I don't have any speed control set up, and googling the issue has yielded very little answers, more suggestions that aren't helpful at all.

@Weirdwolf Do you have the Archer A7 V5 or the Archer C7 V2?
Have you tried testing the speed on multiple devices to make sure the one device is not giving a appearence of router being the bottleneck?

I encountered a similar issue--extremely slow speeds--after I installed the latest firmware. After I turned off QoS, my speeds jumped right back to where they should be. Might check to see if your QoS is also slowing down your wireless?

@Tony This seems to be an ongoing issue.. Plugged in directly to cable modem, fine.. wifi after a reboot is fine. The wifi slow down arises after the router has been rebooted, I don't know how long, but it's bad enough that I've gotten into the habit of rebooting my router every morning. It's really frustrating and I'm about to take a sledge to it and buy another router. Firmware is UTD 1.0.11 Build 20190810 rel.50990(5553) on Archer A7 v5

@Tony I have the same issue with the latest firmware, also on spectrum with Archer A7. Except mine shows does to a crawl and I end up restarting. I'm really thinking of buying a different router after so much trouble with this.

Did anybody resolve this issue? I just bought an A7 three days ago and have 400Mbps download with Spectrum and I'm having trouble getting 400Mbps with this router. If I unplug and connect the computer straight to the modem I get a constant 400+ Mbps but when I use the router it starts at 400Mpbs but always drop down to around 100-200 Mbps on speedtest tests... even to Spectrum servers. The upload speeds are fine. Should the A7 be able to handle 400Mbps?
Hardware: Archer A7 v5.0
Firmware: 1.0.11 Build 20190810 rel.50990(5553)
Basically default settings and I've rebooted a few times and it still happens.
Thank you
Using the the router:
