Model: Archer A20
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20181122 rel.29339(5553)

I have a family member who uses TONS of data, much more than anyone else in the house. Sometimes it affects my ability to stream or game the way I should be able to with a 1000/1000 connection. What I want to do is limit his bandwidth on his devices (phone, iPad, laptop, and smart TV) so that he can't eat up bandwidth that I want to be available for other things.  My new A20 does give me some per-device QoS, but it's not really adequate and I want more granular control like I find in the emulator for the C20 router.

Is there any way to do this with the A20, or would it be possible to just plug a C20 into the A20 and set up a separate network just for him that has bandwidth control enabled for his devices? Is there a better option for this?

@Fulchman

You can definately plug in the C20 into the A20, and have that user have its own wireless network to do the bandwidth control. The Archer C20 will need to reamin in router mode which is what by default, and not Access Point mode.

Additionally, if you want to make sure the user does not connect to the A20 you can black list their device under Advanced > Security > Access Control.

This is what I've done. $27.99 for a C20 on sale at Office Depot. I plugged that in to a LAN port on the A20 and set up the bandwidth throttling. It works perfectly. I can also assign different DNS servers to that networkwhich

I should say that I think it's ridiculous that the cheap router has bandwidth control capability and the $200 router does not. Tp-Link should add that to the premium router.
