When I attempt to connect a TL-WA860RE extender to a MWN-WAPR300N router via the WPS buttons, the WPS light on the extender flashes slowly for awhile then changes to a faster flashing and finally goes out. What is happening?

According to MediaLink that router's UserGuide shows the WPS feature is not recommended. This is of course because of the limited sercuirty measures this feature deploys. Because of this though and of course with the issue you describe my thought would be the feature is actually disabled in the router. We would honestly recommend using the web setup instead.
