Looking to get the Deco M9 Plus from Costco.

Does the latest firmware bring "captive Portal" for guest network? I could tell from the user manual unless I'm not searching properly ...

Thank you!

@Takosan

Unfortuantely, it does not look like it does. Here were the additions with the latest update:

1. Added support for IPTV bridge mode and custom mode.
2. Added IPv6 firewall rules feature.
3. Added Mesh Technology option.
4. Displayed which client is connected to which deco and which Wi-Fi band.
5. Displayed how Decos are connected to each other.
6. Supported up to 64 entries each for Address Reservation and Port Forwarding.
7. Improved the system stability and fixed some bugs.

Hi Tony,

Thank you for the info.

I may have mistaken as I thought I read somewhere that the M5(?) got/had that feature and was coming to M9. Again, I must've misread or something.

Do you know if the captive protal feature is in the pipeline? There's a good deal for a 3 pack of M9 Plus and was contemplating foray into mesh but it would be nice if captive portal will be coming ...

Sincerely,

Takosan

@Takosan

Not for the Deco units, currently the captive portal is available for the Archer C5400X.

The only other router was the Archer C5400 V2, but that is end of life.

Thank you for the info.

Perhaps a compromise of range (mesh) vs captive portal but the Archer does have other nice features like the link aggregation, etc.

Decisions, decision ...

@Takosan

We do have the EAP225 (SMB/Business Product) access point units that do have a capture potal and are capable working as a mesh network.

Big drawback is they all need to be wired and configured using our control software.

I didn't know that. Seems like the biz products like the AP you pointed out gets good scores on AMZ.

Is OMADA app just a name or does it mean anything like it is 3rd party & not TP-Link?

@Takosan

Omada is the name for the software like Kasa is the name for our smart products. In the end it is still TP-Link.

Tony, Is there a way to make a CAPTIVE portal on TP-Link Deco WiFi System? Any software available? We really need a solution here. Thanks
