ax1500 slow 2.4ghz speeds Is hardware version to blame
Hello I recently bought a ax1500 from walmart.
The 5ghz speeds are really good constant 230mbps. But the 2.4ghz arely goes up to 60-80mbps speeds and specially on iphone its a lot slower. No where near the limits it should be at. I just noticed there is hardware versions and mine is v1. Guess i bought a left over product. Is there any difference between hardware versions. Is there a way to fix this issue?

@Loki123 "If yes please tell your engg dept to fix this with a firmware release or something or this is my last tp link product."
Good luck with that. I am dissapointed with their C4000 product. First experience with this brand, should have stayed with my usual brand. But, I will give TP-Link a chance.
I think TP-Link is famous with their budget hardware products but bad software...cut cost for the programmers.
In fact, if TP-Link people are smart, they should provide or support 3rd party firmware makers or converters with their products.
The makers and converters only need sample of the device so they can port the firmware.
That way, consumers will buy more of TP-Link products knowing the products can have longer life with 3rd party firmware.
Sure, longer repeat order, but it may ensure customers to do repeat order, rather than losing customers like what many people do here.

Your router sounds possibly defective, if that is the case get in touch with our support.

@Tony ,
I am pretty sure its the hardware or firmware to blame. I have the exact same issue.
I have tried everything ever mentioned in tp link website to try to fix this but it wont work.
I have a 100 mbps connection and all is fine on 5ghz but i just get 10 mbps on 2.4 ghz standing next to the router. I also have a netgear extender as an access point and for the same connection it gives 60-70mbps standing next to it. This is a huge difference. I even put both the extender and ax1500 on the same channel but no success.
You have a tplink badge next to your avatar looks like you are work for tplink ? If yes please tell your engg dept to fix this with a firmware release or something or this is my last tp link product.

I just purchase the AX1500 and have the same problem, 2.4ghz wifi download speed is only 10mbps to 14mbps but 5ghz wifi is giving me full 120mbps from my internet provider. I am going return the router.

@Jatco, yeah. The support gave me a new firmware to try but it didnt help either. I returned this router and got the linksys velop ac2400 and have none of these issues since then and I consistently get 60-70mbps on 2.4 ghz for my 100mbps connection. I think these wifi6 routers are not mature yet and have lot of bugs/issues which needs sorting out.

@WifiGuy25 how are you getting over 700 on the 5ghz? Im paying for a 1gig network and I barely reach 300 on my 5ghz. What settings have you changed?

The AX1500 seems to suck on the 2.4ghz band. I rarely get a download speed of more than 15mbps while on the 5ghz band I reliably get 150-200mbps. I have contacte support a couple times. They really had no clue. They said if there was a setting to disable NAT Boost that I should disable that, but I never found a Boost setting when logged into the router. When I searched the interface for Boost it gave me a link to a page which did not have a Boost checkmark box. I previously was using a Linksys Velop 3 unit mesh system and will probably reinstall it and trash the AX1500 or set it up as a slave to play with, after disabling DHCP.
