Step 1:  Install the Kasa App on you Android or iOS smart device. 

Step 2:  Create a Kasa Account or Sign into an existing account.

Step 3:  Click on "+"

Step 4:  Choose your device

Step 5:  Follow the on screen instructions.

@Carl thank you have done that - twice. Two story house with router on 2nd floor. Does that matter?

We do recommend being close to the router at least during setup.  When trying to set up the device does the light blink blue and amber?  Also do you see a open network named TP-Link_Smart Plug or something around those terms?
