Model: Archer AX3000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20200109 rel.37084(5553)

Hello,

I'm having wireless connectivity issues with the Archer AX3000 Wireless router from ONLY Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 6 devices. I've tested all other wireless devices in my home and the only ones having issues connecting to the AX3000 wireless are the Surface Pro 4 and 6. I've even swapped out this router with a known good wireless router (Asus Google Wi-Fi) and I can connect to the wireless on that without issue and my ISP Wireless Modem. Symptoms are:
- Connected but without internet. 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz
- Connects for a minute or so then the wireless driver crahses (Event logs show the Marvel Driver crashing for no known reason) (Wireless driver does not crash on known good WiFi so it's not driver issue or hardware issue)

- I've tried rolling back drivers, etc. No dice.
- Surface Pro 4 is Blue Screening when connected to the TP Link Wireless connection sporadicly. Tested this on known good working Wi-Fi and have not experienced ANY Bluescreens.

- Drivers for both Surfaces are up to date. Firmware on AX3000 up to date

For whatever reason the Surface Pro Wireless adapter WILL not play nicely with the AX3000 :(

I've been dealing with this for about 2 months straight now, researching the issue and I'm completely stumped at this point. I have a feeling this needs to be escalated to a higher tier of technical support but I've had no good luck there. As a side note, I'm an experienced IT Network Engineer and rarely have seen this type of response in a certain type of computer with a certain type of WIreless Router. Very confusing and frustrating. The only other reference I've seen to this type of issue was here:

I currently have my Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 6 hooked up to my ISP's wireless modem for now. NO issues AT ALL.

HELP!

@Emersale

I am following this thread, I have a surface pro 3 and same router, every time I connect to that router the surface pro crashes BSOD, I am using one of my old modem/router from AT&T as a fix, it never crashes with that one, have you tried reaching out to ASUS or the network provider? It is possible that they need to update something on there end?

@GFX I haven't tried reaching out to them yet but I did have some luck with changing the channels for the 5GHz and 2.4 GHz. That seems to be working right now. Give that a shot and let me know if it resolves for you!

I also tried working with TP Link. They’ve got me a beta firmware. That could also be helping but wasn’t immediately helpful until the channel switch.

@Emersale

I've been trying to figure this one out as well and just got my Surface working.

Try playing with IPV6 turned on or off on your Surface.  I found that it was off.  Soon as I enabled IPV6, the magic happened.

@Emersale Slightlly difference set-up but a simular issue.  I'm using a Surface Book and the AX50 router.  It connects fine at 2.4G but it says no internet when I connect to 5G, sometimes it will start working after several minutes, but who has time for that.  At least the 2.4G is working for me.

@Emersale

My wife & I are having the exact same problems with Surface products and the Marvel WiFi adapters. I'm having to constantly restart the router. Once I do, I'm good for a few days. I have a feeling it has something to do with MAC address anonimization and when the DHCP lease expires. Somehow, the router is caching a MAC address and when the lease expires, that MAC address is not allowed to get a new lease.

Just a guess from a 25-year IT pro.

@bbasel I'm exactly in the same case than you with my Surface Book 2 and my AX50 :-(
It connects fine at 5G but it says no internet, when the 2.4G is working fine.
