Model: Archer C4000
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20190827 rel.78773(5553)

As mentioned/shown in the diagram, I am able to ping and get a response from M2 to M1. Unable to do the same from M1 to M2. I suspect some setting or a bug in the Archer C4000 router is the cause of the problem. I have read several articles related to ping issues. However, was not able to resolve the challenge I am facing.

@RSSRouter

Sounds like you need to set up static routes, here is a FAQ that shows a senario similar to yours: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/560/

Another alternative is to disable the DHCP server on the C7, assign a static IP to the C7 so it is on the same subnet of the C4000. Connect the Ethernet cable from the LAN of the C4000 to the LAN of the C7, and all devices will be on the same network.

I have applied the second solution you suggested which is turning the uplink router into n AP. I had done this int the past - so no issues.

This all started with trying to attempt an RDP connection from the MAC to a Windows 10 on the uplink router.

Both have IPs from the same subnet. 192.168.0.x

I still get this error.

An error occurred while communicating with the Remote Desktop Gateway. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance.

Error code: 0x3000008

@Tony

RDP now working with IP addresses. However, fails when addressed by machine name.
