Deco M5 speed
Question on speed. Recently switched from a Netgear mesh system to this. I currently pay for 500 Mbps from my ISP. When I perform the speed test on my Deco app, it says it is at 584 Mbs download. However, when I do a speed test from the Speedtest app on my phone or computer, it says my speed is less then 100 Mbps, which is much lower then the Orbi system I switched from. Any idea why that is?

The app from the phone is testing from the main Deco to the modem, when your are on your phone you may be going through the slave Deco units.
Get a computer/laptop and wire into the first Deco and do a speed test, and then do that for all the other nodes to see what speeds you are getting from each point. If possible wire the main node to a slave node to give the best speed.
The Deco M5s do not have a dedicated wireless backhaul so they use which ever band is available. The Deco M9s do have a 5G backhaul which gives a better wireless performance.

Thank you for the tests.
Go into the Deco app, then More > Update Deco, see if there is new firmware available.
It might have been done, but connect the computer to the cable the Deco uses to the modem to make sure that checks out.
Go into the QoS settings, make sure standard is selected, and the upload and download speeds reflect your internet speeds or manually enter them to be something like 1000 down and 1000 up.
What you can also do is to factory default the Deco devices to see if speed is normalized which some have done.

Hi Tony. Deca firmware is upto date. Modem is fine. I changed the settigns to 1000 / 1000. Selected standard. Upload increased from usual 10 to roughly 25. Download stayed at around 80.

Connect your laptop directly to the model, using the Ethernet cable the Deco is using and see if you get speeds that you are paying for.
If that is fine, factory default the Deco units by resetting them and setting them up again.
