Trend Micro security database update frequency?

When does this unit update the Trend Micro security database? As far as I can tell, it only updates on reboot of the router. I noticed today that my security database hadn't updated since January (the last time my router was rebooted). This seems crazy that the system doesn't update automatically, without a reboot.
I have had poor luck with scheduled reboots and have found them to cause the router to fail to reconnect to the internet (manual reboots always work).

Whenever there is a new database update the antivirus server will send a notification to all devices to update automatically. You can possibly look to change your WAN DNS servers to different ones so rebooting would not need to be done every time to update. There usually is a update within a month or two.

Thanks, @Tony. Can you clarify your DNS suggestion? Are you suggesting a one-time DNS modification will produce different behavior? What is the interplay of DNS in this case?

The suggestion was based on the router not automatically grab the update from the internet.
Any public DNS servers would be suggested like Googles for example:
Primary: 8.8.8.8
Secondary: 8.8.4.4

@Tony The router is already configured with two public, functioning DNS servers. I don't believe it's a failure of the router to resolve a hostname to get the updates.

I find the update only occurs when rebooting the firewall. If there is some sort of storage that is filling, this seems like a design issue.
Edit: I just checked my firewall to see when it last checked for updates, and it shows March 2. So, apparently it worked the issue out by itself. :)
