Since setup (yesterday) two remote nodes constantly become unavaialble (sometimes together sometimes one at a time).

 

The Deco is setup to my Verizon Router (not a modem) using the hard coded IP address 192.168.1.3.  The Deco DNS is 192.168.86.X with the main node as .1 the hard wired node as .30 and the wirelss node at 103, however these appear to be Dynamic IP's so that could change in the future.

 

This loss of connection happens both with a wireless backhaul and a wired (Ethernet connection) and it occurs even if the satellite nodes are in the same exact room as the main node.

I would monitor the main node to see if that also turns red. If not, the main node may be the culprit. Try swapping the main node with one of the satellite nodes and monitor the stability.

@Tony That's an interseting concept and will definitely try that.  I assumed that the nodes were having trouble communicating with the main node but got more concerned when the issue continued even with an ethernet connection (how could a wired cionnection have trouble communicating).

 

I'll let you know the outcome, thanks!

If a satellite node goes red, then it is no longer getting an IP from the main node. If it is wireless then could be too far, if wired, then maybe an issue with the cable or port on either node. 

 

If the main node is also red, then it may no longer be getting an internet connection, could be the modem, or bad cable or the unit itself.

@HTS I reset and switched nodes and the issues are either the same or worse.  The main node never goes offline (even after I switched 2 of the units as suggested).  Setup was actually harder than the first time around as the app kept suggesting that I bring the nodes closer together (even closer than the first setup which actually worked).

 

The Ethernet backhaul did not connect this time (maybe because wireless connection had trouble first) and gave me the red light from the get go (after first setting the unit up wirelessly).

 

I have used many TP-Link products (swithces, lights, hubs and even the original TP-Link and Asus mesh routers with Google WiFi) but am going to throw in the towel on the Deco M5 (and probably the WiFi 6 units as I have read similar experiences with the x20 and x60).  Too bad, because I was hoping to install these upgrades for my existing clients but it appears that I would be better served with Google Nest (even if it is ony WiFi 5).
