I am using an HUAWEI B3310 router on a Vodafone  4g SIM card. I have this connected to  2 tplink routers TL WR 481N

Via a switch and set them up as Access points with smart DHCP the gateway is 192.168.8.1

The router have been assigned 8.1 ip adresses and all is good ...however after a couple of days some some thing is causing the gateway to change adresses last time it was to 9.1 l then had to remove the Ethernet cable to the switch re boot the router (it returned to 8.1 and then re set the tp link routers.      any ideas if the routers are causing this or something else

@scamperoo

I would probably set the TL-WR841Ns as static rather than smart IP. I know our routers will automatically switch the LAN IP from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 if it detects the same IP. That may not be the case but maybe the smart IP may be triggering the main router to do that.

@scamperoo

As long as the static IP is outside of the range of the router DHCP pool then any number would work. For example, if the router automatically gives an IP of 192.168.8.100 - 192.168.8.200, then you would have an IP of 192.168.8.210.
