Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Archer A7 ver 5 main router.

Ethernet wired to LAN port on Archer C7 to use as Access Point.

On C7

All wireless connections working

All Ethernet wired connections working

A7 IP: 192.168.0.1

Changed C7 IP to

192 168.0.3

After changing the IP I could no longer log into the A7.

I can see it on wireless network scanner.  It's working but I wanted to change the SSID for use by network extender.

What did I do wrong?  Previously my Archer C9 bombed so I was trying to set up my LAN with a new A7.  The old C9-A7 system was working fine until the C9 crashed.

@wotnwabbit

Make sure you turned off the DHCP server on the C7 since the A7 is the main router and that should only be running the DHCP server.

The subnet mask for both routers should be: 255.255.255.0

@Tony

I know I did turn off DHCP on the C7.  I was following the video for this on the TP Link support page.

I cannot be positive about the 255.255.255.0, but since I think it was a default value, I didn't change it.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Your settings?

A7 192.168.0.1 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 DHCP On

C7 192.168.0.3 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 DHCP Off

Have you tried rebooting the computer afterward? After changing the address of my C4000 from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1, I needed to reboot the computer for the browser to see the router. Before that, the router said to wait, did a countdown, and it would reconnect, but it didn't. This behavior is different from my Linksys and Western Digital routers, which would reconnect after a change in address without a computer reboot.
