Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20200427 rel.80857(5553)

I've had my AX6000 for about 2 months now and all of the sudden it now reboots itself at random time over the course of the day. B/c of the global pandemic I have been working from home and connect to my work via a VPN. I've noticed that these reboots only happen when I am connected to the VPN and kids might be streaming videos or something. I don't believe the router is restarting itself from over heating or minimal resources, you would think a router of this magnitude could handle it.

Thanks

@802GreenMtnBoy

Have you noticed any pattern that would trigger it? For example, does it tend to happen at a certain part of the day?

Were certain things disconnected say the VPN or gaming devices to see if the reboots stopped for that period?

@Tony

I have the same issue I think, but I'm not connected to any vpn on the router itself. My work computer on the other hand have VPN on, but would that make the router restart?.

Found this post after i created my own, https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/225138?page=1

I have added some information in it as well

@Sickan90 Thanks so much for the reply. I have not had the router restart on me in about a week or so, but now that I said this, it will likely start happening all the time now... frown

The problem I am having seems to only happen when I am connected to my compaies VPN and the kids are streaming something on another device. Do you think the VPN is creating a bandwidth bottleneck or something? I wouldn't think a router of this caliber would have issues handling that type for throughput. Other then that, I don't have the restart problem.

Thanks again

Hi Tony, thanks so much for your response. The only pattern I have seen is that the router will randomly restart when I am connected to my companies VPN and other people in the house might be streaming / playing games on 1 or 2 other devices. It is not very frequent when it happens, but very annoying when it does. Thanks again

What VPN do you guys use for your work or the VPN software?

Given how it is used for work, if you didn't use it say over the weekend does the reboot still happen?

We have not received any reports of rebooting so I'm looking for some pattern.

@Tony

For VPN at work i use "Pulse Secure" as VPN application

When it comes to the weekend. Out of the top of my head, it has never happend when my work computer is not on (and thereby VPN)... but cannot be too sure, as I was not focused on it.

@Tony We use Cisco AnyConnect for VPN. I have never experienced a reboot on the weekends, etc. It only appears to happen randomly when I am connected to the VPN and working while others in the house (on the same network) are doing other vairous things like streaming or gaming. I do database development and a lot of my work includes querying lots of data and moving it around... I am not sure if these disconnects are connected to when I am running high resourse queries or not, but I will pay more attention to that if it happens again.

@Tony

I experienced a router reboot about 30min ago. The router rebooted and connected to the internet within a minute. This is not the first time it happened. I experienced it one ot two times a month. Is this a problem with the router?

Let me share my router information

Router is  AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 Router

Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20200706 Rel. 37538(5553)

Hardware Version: Archer AX1500 v1.0

This is I what I see in the log

"2020-09-02 09:27:07 Traffic Statistics INFO [5960] Clear all stats because time changed".

At the time of this happening we had 15 devices connected (2 Wired, 7 -5GHz, and 6-2.4GHz).

Operation Mode: Wireless Router Mode

2.4GHz Transmit power: High

2.4GHz mode: 802.11b/g/n mixed

5GHz Transmit power: High

5GHz mode: 802.11b/g/n mixed

@Sickan90

If your firmware build is 20200427 please update to the latest firmware as well to 200714: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-ax6000/#Firmware

@jcrq

Make sure the power supply is the original one for the router, you could try a different outlet. I would probably look back and try to see if there is something that was running/happening before it caused to see if there is a pattern. If there is nothing and it is all random you may need to reach out to support in that case.

I'm already on the lastest firmware 1.1.1 Build 20200714 rel.18254(4555) I would guess it is the same as 200714, just missing the first "20"
