Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.2

The issue is that NONE of the 50+ Devices already working in our home will connect with the SAME Credentials of Name and Password being entered in the DECO.

It has been suggested that all of the home devices are on 1 encryption, and the DECO is on another. My "old" Asus Router is set for WPA-2 Personal / WPA Encryption is AES...

How do I insure the DECO Setup matches this?  What other settings in the out-of-the box Deco must be chnaged to allow for it to connect with all of my currently operating Wi-Fi devices?

@Wizard99 Did you find out the encryption for the Deco?  My camera settings is WPA2 Personal..

I just found this in another thread "There is no option to change the encryption type. And the Deco supports WPA/WPA2-PSK mixed."

@Wizard99

If you need AES you can upload this beta firmware: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202006/20200617/Deco_M9Plus_V2_AES-only.zip

Please note that this will downgrade the firmware to 1.4.0.

@Tony I have the Deco M5.

  • Is there a firmware version for that?
  • Is there any downsides to using that?
  • How do I go about loading that firmware?

Thanks for the assistance..

@Ralphie

The firmware was in response to devices that are only capable of connecting with AES rather then mixed.

Please note Deco systems operate WPA2/WPA-AES/TKIP mixed.
