Hi All

The Poe adapter that came with my purchase of the CPE220 does NOT have a remote reset.

Because my CPE220 is on a pole and difficult to get to I have the following questions.

1: Does the CPE220 support remote reset from a Poe adapter.

2: Will any brand adapter do ?

3: Because we are located on the beach side, I am worried about the long term reliability

    of the plug connections. Not much I can do about the CPE220 but are there any Poe

    adapters that are hardwired?

4: Electrically, what is involved with creating a remote reset.?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards

@Dinosaur1946

1. Depending on the hardware versions the remote reset would be located in front of the device where the Ethernet ports are or on the left side when facing the Ethernet ports, and the passive LED indicator is on top.

2. Here is a FAQ showing the various power specs for the SMB devices: https://www.tp-link.com/no/support/faq/906/ if the adapter is within spec it should work.

3. Non-RJ45 connectors?

4. Typically the power is interrupted similar to holding the reset on the device itself.

@Tony

Many thanks for the reply.

The way the Poe adapter was mounted, the only side I could not see, had the reset hole.

All the browsing I did showed it to the left of the Ethernet connections.

Apologies for not looking further and not seeing that.

3. Non-RJ45 connectors?

Yes, in other words reliable screw terminals (clamp type)

I have already removed 3 Plug/Socket connections by using ScotchLok  connectors that have protective gel

that gets released after crimping.

I don't know if there are better quality  RJ45 crimping plugs, but one moment I have all 8 connections

and the next I don't. Also I am worried about long term salt air affecting them.
